Recruitment Solutions through Diverse & Inclusive Services.
Intuitively, diversity in the workplace is a positive business characteristic. A diverse workplace opens up an organization to better pools of ideas, larger manpower groups, and promotes an even greater touch / appeal with the customers. It just makes sense for a business to promote diversity in its workforce, right? However, as Voltaire has put it: common sense is not so common. It may come as a surprise but diverse staffing is not the general trend in actual business employment process.
As a matter of fact, to this day, there are businesses who see diversity as a financial drag on a company. This is despite the 2015 McKinsey & Company study wherein it was concluded that companies who adopt diverse policies actually reap benefits through what is termed as diversity dividend. In 2020, the same company (McKinsey & Company) made a follow up study in their Diversity series where they found that “the greater the representation, the higher the likelihood of outperformance.” For instance, companies who employed greater women executives are shown to more likely outperform those who had fewer women leaders or even none at all. Results showed a 48% greater chance of financial outperformance for gender-diverse companies compared to the least diverse ones.
Speaking of diverse women-led companies, Level D&I has been a partner of HireVeterans since 2022!
This minority- and woman-owned organization is a crusader of Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace. No need to look further; their name says it all: Level D&I (Diversity and Inclusion). Their goal is to level the field of employment by bringing as much diverse minds as they can and not stopping at recruitment but also continuing on the promotion of inclusivity within the workplace. They are even recognized as Purpose Jobs’ one of the best places to work in Midwest tech in 2023!
It is important to take note that a company can be culturally diverse but not inclusive. When we talk about inclusion, there should be equity, openness, and belongingness. Equality is different from equity. Equality means equal access of resources for everyone while equity means varied accommodations according to the strengths and weaknesses of the members to reach a common target or outcome. An open organization does not only accept talents from different groups. Openness, in the inclusive sense, should be revolutionary in that it should also eliminate bias and discrimination. Finally, belongingness means there’s this effort from the organization to make its members feel welcome – ensure them that each of them has a safe space within the group.
All of these – diversity, equity, openness, and belongingness – are part of Level D&I’s mission and vision for a well represented and inclusive workplace.
