NEW YORK’S FINEST

The firm now known as CURTIS, MALLET-PREVOST, COLT & MOSLE LLP was forged by time.

Founded in the 1820s in New York City, it was initially named as J.L. Graham and J.L. Graham by cousins John and James Lorimer Graham. Come 1838, the firm admitted another partner in the person of William Curtis Noyes – the son of a state Supreme Court justice. The firm’s name was changed to Graham, Noyes & Wood. William Curtis Noyes, a seasoned lawyer of his time, played a critical role in codifying New York State’s laws which still has an impact to today’s policies. By 1897, new partners meld with the firm. Harris D. Colt was made a name partner and later that same year was joined by Severo Mallet-Prevost, a Mexican born, U.S.-educated lawyer. By 1925, Henry Mosle stepped in as the new and last named partner, resulting to the firm’s current name: Curtis, Mallet-Provost, Colt & Mosle LLP.
